The next step for impeachment is the Senate trial, in which United States senators act as judge and jury to decide whether the President is impeached based on witnesses, arguments, and evidence presented.
The Senate is currently Republican-dominated, with 53 GOP senators in the 100-strong upper chamber of Congress.
Impeachment would also require a two-thirds majority, meaning 67 Senators would have to vote against Donald Trump.
If the Senate votes against the President, however, he faces removal from office.
