Everton agree deal in principle with Carlo Ancelotti to become next Toffees manager

Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly agreed a deal in principle to become the new manager of Everton according to Sky Sports News. The Italian is believed to have held successful talks about taking over as boss on Monday and things look to have move pretty quickly.

Sky Sports News reported earlier today that Ancelotti had arrived on Merseyside to continue talks with the Toffees about potentially taking over as boss.

Multiple outlets then moved to dismiss the claims, with many stating that Ancelotti was in fact in Rome with his wife.

He is said to be preparing to travel to Vancouver for a break over the festive period, but that could well now change.

Everton have put Duncan Ferguson in temporary charge of the club while they continue the search for a new manager.

He will be in the dugout for this week’s Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Everton.

However Ancelotti could potentially take charge of the clash with Arsenal on Saturday, if things are to move quickly.

The Italian was also a target for the Gunners who have now decided to move for Mikel Arteta.

There had been suggestion that Arteta was also in the frame for the Everton job, given that it is another one of his former clubs.
