John Barrowman slams new Dancing on Ice star ‘get on the ice and off Instagram’

John Barroman joined presenters Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer live on Sunday Brunch this morning to talk about his most recent neck injury, and his new role on Dancing on Ice which will air in the new year. However it was his comments about one of the new contestants that really shook the conversation telling the hosts that some people need to get off Instagram and onto the ice, but who could it be?

Dancing on Ice returns on January 5 with a brand new judging panel, of course professional dancers Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean remain but they will now be joined by dancer Ashley Banjo and performer and past Dancing on Ice contestant John Barrowman.

To mark the new family of judges, ITV has produced its first Dancing on Ice Christmas special in nine years, airing on December 22, to introduce viewers to all the new contestants, with a performance from John himself.

The Contestants are: Maura Higgins, Michael Barrymore, Joe Swash, H from steps and Perri Kiely.

Along with Lisa George, Libby Clegg MBE, Trisha Goddard, Lucrezia Millarini, Kevin Kilbane Ben Hanlin and Caprice Bourret.

However, it seems some of the celebs aren’t taking it as seriously as John would like.

John explained: “They give you a judging book, and I’ve already made notes, I am so excited about it, I was a contestant on the first series.

“I don’t really know what kind of judge I’m going to be but if it’s not fabulous I’m going to tell you.”

John will be replacing long-time judge Jason Gardiner, who has been on the show since the very beginning.

John then directed his comments directly to the camera: “Or you’ll be on Instagram all the time, you’re not even on the ice!”

He did however confirm that there are a lot of surprises to look forward to on the Christmas special and the newest series of Dancing on Ice for viewers to look forward to.

John recently hurt his neck and was rushed to hospital after performing a death drop, he revealed exactly what happened to Tim and Simon

John explained: “The next day I couldn’t open my mouth properly, the pain was excruciating, I dropped to my knees because of the pain and I was rushed to hospital.

“My brother-in-law set everything up and I had an MRI and needles put into my vertebra and joint to reduce the swelling.”
