Melania Trump fury: FLOTUS creates Twitterstorm for ‘sickening’ visit to child hospital

The First Lady, and wife of US President Donald Trump, was condemned by critics for taking a trip to the Children’s National Hospital for a Christmas event. During her visit, Melania met patients, made christmas decorations with them and read to them with Santa Claus. The First Lady shared a video of the trip on her Twitter page.

The First Lady captioned it: “Thank you children’s health for inviting me to join your joyous Christmas event.

“Many thanks to all of the doctors and nurses who go the extra mile to put a smile on children’s faces this holiday season.”

Melania’s post was soon flooded with comments of disapproval from outraged critics.

One Twitter user claimed the First Lady was “using sick kids as props”.

Sandi Keeble added: “So sickening how each photo is perfectly timed with the single token sign of affection.”

Another Twitter user wrote: “Big freaking whoop. You visited a place where they are doing good work. You’ve added nothing.”

Cindy Lang tweeted: “What an interruption and distraction for those hard working doctors and nurses and energy expenditure for the sick children. Inconsiderate FLOTUS. Photo op.”

Veronica Mueller commented on Twitter: “How about showing children of all cultures and nationalities on your trips of giving to children. This is a farce.”

Penny McMillan tweeted: “Why haven’t you cared about those children locked in cages by your husband, separated from their parents?

“You can’t ignore that and be a good person.”

Susan Brenner commented: “If you care so much about the children, where were you when babies were being ripped from their mother’s arms and put in cages.”

Lynne Maren posted: “Melania very nice. Don’t forget about the children in cages.”

Tricia Lyman wrote on Twitter: “Oh dear FLOTUS you need to go where the separated immigrant children are.

“They need some Christmas cheer, don’t you think?”

Despite the onslaught of criticisms from Melania’s attackers, many took to social media to praise the work of the First Lady.

Lisa wrote on Twitter: “I admit I don’t like or agree with your husband’s politics but I believe you sincerely love children and that shows every time you’re with one. Your joy shines bright in your smile.”

Barbara Stockard wrote: “Thank you, First Lady for visiting these children. You grace and caring nature does not go unnoticed by millions of Americans.

Marquette Dreesch posted on Twitter: “FLOTUS you have a wonderful way with children! You exude such a beautiful light and energy.

“Thank you for spreading so much cheer this holiday season.”
