“For the Cardinals you’ve got [Paul] Goldschmidt, Yadi [Molina], we like to think that our double play combination has committed the fewest errors,” he told Express Sport when asked who fans should look out for.
“[Paul] De Jong, our short-stop, is already the most prolific home-run hitter in Cardinals history as a short-stop. Long is a tremendous defensive player, up the middle that play combination is great.
“We’ve got [Jack] Flaherty who is only 23 years-of-age but he’s already the ace of our pitching staff.
“We’ve got a closer that has had Tommy John surgery – his name is Jordan Hicks – last year in his rookie year he had more 100mph fastballs in the history of the game, including two at 105mph, you just don’t see that velocity. The game is in June, so that’ll be the 12-month mark for his surgery, so he might not be pitching, but hopefully he can be throwing.
“I respect [Adam] Wainright], who will be then third on our all-time win list. He’s not just a great pitcher but he’s a class act.”
