The First Lady posted the Christmas pictures on her Twitter account to her 12.7 million followers. Melania described the celebration as a “fun holiday tradition” in her post and seemed to be grinning from ear to ear in the accompanying photos. The post read: “Another fun holiday tradition in our nation’s capital!
“Tonight, Donald Trump and I attended The National Tree lighting in The President’s Park.
“Loved seeing everyone in the holiday spirit!”
Earlier on, Melania also re-tweeted a video from her husband which showed the lights being switched on and a band playing while the President gave a speech.
In the speech Trump said: “In 1923, President Calvin Coolidge lit the first national Christmas tree.
“Christians give thanks that the son of God came into the world to save humanity.
“Jesus Christ inspires us to love one another with hearts full of generosity and grace.
“As one grateful nation, we praise the joy of family, the blessings of freedom and the miracle of Christmas.
“On behalf of Melania and our entire family, merry Christmas and God bless you all.
