James Bond No Time To Die secret theory: Madeleine Swann helps Safin to cheat DEATH

The first full teaser trailer for No Time To Die opens with Daniel Craig’s James Bond discovering that his lover Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux) has a terrible secret. One that would involve betraying him. Surely it has something to do with new Bond villain Safin, played by Rami Malek?

Safin is introduced at the trailer’s end after Bond is reunited with his half-brother Blofeld, who is still imprisoned by MI6.

The villain admits that the secret will be the death of 007.

Enter Rami Malek’s Safin who teases – much like Skyfall’s Silva – to being very similar to Craig’s spy.

He says: “James Bond. Licence to Kill. History of Violence. I could be speaking to my own reflection.”

Back to the frozen lake scene and a scarred Safin has every opportunity to kill the young Swann.

However, we know she survives and grows up to be a psychologist at the Austrian Hoffler Klinik – so did he recruit her?

Is it possible her skills reach further into the area of genetics? After all, “genetic warfare” is rumoured to be part of the plot.

So just how is Safin playing God? At this stage, we reckon he’s seeking immortality somehow.

No Time To Die director Cary Fukunaga spoke with Empire about the trailer in which he made an intriguing tease.

The filmmaker said: “Mr White was key in the deal that saved Bond’s life with Vesper Land, so…there’s stuff to mine there.”

Clearly, the secrets of No Time To Die reach all the way back to Casino Royale then.

No Time To Die is released in UK cinemas on April 2, 2020.
