Arsenal told Brendan Rodgers would ‘of course’ swap Leicester for vacant Gunners job

Brendan Rodgers would “of course” leave Leicester for Arsenal if he is offered Unai Emery’s job, according to Perry Groves. The Gunners sacked Emery after a series of miserable performances that saw the club drop to eighth place in the Premier League table.

Groves insists his former club should focus on bringing in Rodgers following his incredible work at the Foxes, who are second in the league and are making a strong case for Champions League qualification.

The former Arsenal winger believes Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo and ex-Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino would be worthy candidates for the hotseat.

But the 54-year-old is adamant that Rodgers’ success with Leicester makes him the top pick and urged the Gunners’ board to “go all out” for his signature.

The former Liverpool manager claims he is not keen to leave Leicester but Groves is confident he would immediately agree to join Arsenal because he will want to prove he is worthy of managing a top-six club.

He told talkSPORT: “They need to go with experience.

“They need someone with Premier League experience with a clear vision and a clear direction.

“There are three candidates, for me.
