Asteroid warning: NASA tracks 22,600MPH space rock heading for Earth – will it hit?

The space rock is, therefore, a similar size in width to the length of a bowling alley.

NASA has also calculated the asteroid is barrelling in Earth’s direction at approximately 10.19km per second.

To put this into context, the asteroid will shoot past our planet at 22,794mph (36,684kmh).

NASA’s Center for Near Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) revealed the asteroid will be at its closest to Earth at 8.46am GMT (3.46am EDT) on December 1.
