Man Utd lead £100m Jadon Sancho chase but Man City make Borussia Dortmund request

Manchester United think they are in the prime position to sign Jadon Sancho, according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempted to take the Borussia Dortmund winger to Old Trafford this summer but the Bundesliga outfit kept hold of their man.

The Red Devils believe they are ahead of Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the race for the England international’s signature.

According to the Telegraph, United bosses are hoping to take advantage of recent tensions between Sancho and Dortmund – even through the 19-year-old could cost upto £100million.

However, Manchester City, who sold Sancho to the German outfit for £8m two years ago, have supposedly requested to be kept abreast of transfer negotiations.

Pep Guardiola’s side are lurking in the shadows alongside Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal as the trio are unlikely to reignite their interest.

That leaves a four-horse race in which Solskjaer feels he is ahead of the pack.

Sancho had a major falling out with the hierarchy at Dortmund after being made the scapegoat for the club’s 4-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.

The attacker was hauled off after just 36 minutes despite the side losing just 1-0 at that time.

He was also slapped with an £86,000 fine for returning from international duty late in October.

The Telegraph add even the threat of no Champions League football next season does not put Sancho off a move to United.

Solskjaer’s side sit nine points outside of the top four but they still think they head the queue.

The report also suggests Liverpool will take a backseat as they do not want to get into a bidding war with United, especially as Sancho has two years remaining on his contract.

Barcelona and Real Madrid and both below par this season and could look for reinforcements next summer.

But they have already invested heavily at the start of this campaign and also have other targets on their radars.
