Jose Mourinho hailed

Jose Mourinho has been backed by Robbie Fowler to get his Tottenham side behind him – including the players who want to leave.

Fowler said: “Mourinho is many things, but he’s an organiser who can come in, assess the personnel and come up with a system that works.

“He can also get players doing the job he wants, whether they are desperate to leave or longing for a new contract. Tottenham’s success was based on a defensive excellence that has disappeared without a trace in 2019. And guess what, Mourinho is the master of organising a defence.

“I reckon he’ll be straight in to Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose saying, “It doesn’t matter where you want to be or what gripe you had with the club and the previous manager, I’ll fight for you, if you fight for me.”

Troy Parrott bid

Borussia Dortmund want to get a jump on arch-rivals Bayern Munich in the race to land Tottenham youngster Troy Parrott.

Dortmund have reaped the rewards of the successful signing of £120million-rated England international Jadon Sancho from Manchester City two years ago.

And they are ready to go head-to-head with Bayern, Juventus and Real Madrid in the race to sign Parrott, 17, who Spurs bought as a schoolboy from Irish side Belvedere two years ago.

Parrott, who only signed his first professional contract on his 17th birthday earlier this year, is seen as one of the most exciting prospects in European football.

Nicolo Zaniolo interest

Tottenham are keen to challenge Manchester United and Inter Milan for young midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.

Zaniolo, 20, has scored five goals in 16 appearances this season and recently opened his account for the Italian international side – netting twice against Armenia.

It’s reported that Ed Woodward and co. are prepared to test Roma’s resolve with a £52million bid.

However, Jose Mourinho could spoil the party with Zaniolo viewed as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen.

Roberto Martinez in the frame

Roberto Martinez was ready to leave Belgium to take over at Tottenham after Mauricio Pochettino was sacked and Daniel Levy considered a move for the Spaniard, according to reports.

The former Swansea, Wigan and Everton boss has been in charge of the Belgium national side since August 2016 and led them to a third place finish at the 2018 World Cup, but was willing to leave just after qualifying for Euro 2020.

The Daily Star have claimed that the 46-year-old made his interest in the position known after Pochettino’s exit, but talks were never held.

The Spurs chairman is an admirer of the Martinez’s work, but the interest went no further as he secured his main target.
