  • The Hammers have managed only three victories in their past 26 league matches played in November

West Ham XI: Roberto, Cresswell, Fredericks, Diop, Ogbonna, Rice, Noble, Snodgrass, Yarmolenko, Anderson, Haller

Tottenham XI: Gazzaniga, Davies, Aurier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Dier, Winks, Alli, Moura, Son, Kane

No problems with Jose

12:05: West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini speaking to BT Sport: “I don’t have any problems with Jose – he is a special man – he named it himself. He is a good manager, he does well in the Premier League. I feel sad for Mauricio Pochettino he has done so much for the club. I wish Jose a lot of success but after this game.”

I think this is in reference to the time Jose Mourinho mocked Manuel Pellegrini for his failure at Real Madrid, saying: “Second place is just the first loser.”

Pellegrini responded saying: “I don’t like coaches who are only interested in results. The concepts of spectacle and creativity are fundamental to me.”

So…

12:00: Arthur Masuaku was handed a new five-year contract in the summer and hasn’t been in the squad for five of the last six games…

Don’t understand that myself. Is that to add value before selling him?

Twitter reaction

Sean: Wouldn’t you be in a good mood if you’d just signed a £15 million a year contract?

Theo: Unsurprised to see Eric Dier right back in the side. He is the definition of a Jose Mourinho player and if he can stay they will get a lot out of each other.

Dave: Still not happy with the manager but I’ll support Spurs through everything.

Finding happiness

11:50: Jose Mourinho sounds like he’s starring in the sequel to the pursuit of happiness during his pre-match interview. Here’s what he’s had to say.

“I think today is about a bit of everything,” Mourinho told BT Sport. “Motivation – I think they always had it.

“People think when results are bad it’s about motivation but they are professionals and they always try their best. Tactics – we have just a few little changes but I have not changed a lot just little things I think will help.”

“Today is important but our future is also very important. We are going to try and find some positions and dynamic which we have had chance to work with Kane, Son and Moura. Today is about finding happiness.”

Happy Jose

11:45: Jose Mourinho appears to have completely transformed. Does he have a twin or something?! Gone are the miserable Manchester United where he looked like a bulldog chewing a wasp.

The Portuguese has arrived with a big smile on his face, handing out high fives to the West Ham mascots who were lined up along the dressing room tunnel. Perhaps he likes the new purple training kit?

The Portuguese tactician makes three changes from the side who drew 1-1 at home to Sheffield United.

Lucas Moura comes in to replace Tanguy Ndombele, who failed to recover from a groin injury. There’s also a start for Harry Winks and Toby Alderweireld. Moussa Sissoko and Giovani Lo Celso drops to the bench. Christian Eriksen is also among the substitutes.

Morning…

11:20: Hello everyone and welcome to our LIVE coverage of West Ham vs Tottenham from the London Stadium.

There’s a massive amount of interest in today’s match – can you guess why?

All eyes are on Jose Mourinho during Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off following a whirlwind few days in north London.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss was swiftly appointed by Spurs just hours after the shock departure of Pochettino.

Mourinho believes a title challenge is possible next season and will be eager to make a winning start to appease disgruntled supporters feeling disheartened by the abrupt departure of his popular predecessor and unhappy at his Stamford Bridge connections.

The fixture could also be a defining moment for under-fire Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini.

The Chilean – a long-term rival of Mourinho, who he described as ‘not my friend, but not my enemy’ – has mustered only two points from the last 18 available.
