Jamie Redknapp confronts Man Utd hero Roy Keane over 'weak' Tottenham comments

Jamie Redknapp pulled up fellow Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane, on comments in which he said Spurs have had a weakness to them for 20 years.

Redknapp’s father Harry, of course managed Tottenham between 2008-2012, leading them to the Champions League quarter-finals along the way.

Yet in typical Keane fashion, he wasn’t afraid to give an honest assessment of Tottenham, and ended up provoking a reaction from former Spurs and Liverpool midfielder Redknapp.

“They’ve got quality,” Keane said after Manchester City beat Chelsea 2-1.

“I’ve always said when you’ve got a goalscorer like Harry Kane you’ve got a chance of winning football matches.

“Obviously Tottenham have had a weakness to them for 20 years.”

At this point, Redknapp snapped, masking his frustration with a semi-serious tone.

“Oh come on, when my Dad was there they weren’t,” he replied.

“When I was there they were weak but not when my Dad was there.

“I’ve had Gary Neville say that.”

Keane then tried to clear up his verdict.

He added: “We always class Spurs as a cup team haven’t we and there’s a bit of an insult to that.

“Jose will want to change that mentality and it will take a bit of work.”

Kelly Cates then said “that point that Roy makes, I know you took slight exception to the fact…”

Redknapp then jumped in, adding: “I saw Modric and Bale, Tottenham were a good side under my dad.

“I’m not going to not say that.”
