Jose Mourinho eyes first two Tottenham transfers to fix his primary Spurs concern

Jose Mourinho has one primary concern after being appointed the new manager of Tottenham, reports claim.

The Portuguese boss won over Daniel Levy following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday evening.

In a meeting with the Tottenham chairman, he convincingly opened up on his blueprint which he believes will help he club win trophies.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Mourinho though, has one primary concern about the squad he has inherited.

He believes the defence is in serious need of some reinvestment.

The core of his backline face uncertain futures in north London, something he aims to resolve in the near future.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are both out of contract next summer and appear set on heading through the exit door.

Danny Rose has also been told he can leave, despite his desire to see out the final 18 months of his contract.

Meanwhile Spurs have failed to replace Kieran Trippier, with Serge Aurier their current first choice right-back despite a series of calamitous performances.

The report claim Mourinho is eyeing two signings to help put his mind at ease.

One of those is Benfica centre-back Ruben Dias, who has made a real name for himself in the Primeira Liga and with the Portuguese national team.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Wolves have all also expressed an interest.

The second name being considering for a future deal is Nathan Ake.

Tottenham’s scouting department have long admired the Bournemouth defender who has also impressed with the Netherlands.

Chelsea are also interest though and do have a buy-back option at around the £40million mark.

Mourinho is said to be willing to let Eriksen, Alderweireld and Vertonghen leave if they’re not willing to extend their stay at the club.
