Sky TV is offering customers a blockbuster upgrade at a much cheaper price

There’s some good news for Sky customers today with the satellite TV firm offering a big upgrade at a much cheaper price.

Sky has just announced that it is launching a new set-top box which will offer more features at a cost more might be able to afford.

This latest device is similar to the current entry-level Sky Q 1TB box that has been on sale since it the Q service was launched back in 2016.

However, this update now gets some of the features included on the premium 2TB box such as being able to record more shows at once and getting 4K Ultra HD compatibility.

This means you can watch sports and movies in this pin-sharp quality and record six shows at the same time without having to pay the higher price for the 2TB Sky Q box.

Sky says that customers who choose the Sky Q Experience pack with the new standard 1TB box will now be able to unlock over 3,500 hours of award-winning Ultra HD Entertainment, the latest Ultra HD movie premieres on-demand, and edge-of-seat sporting clashes.

For the first time, they’ll also be able to watch on two Sky Q mini-boxes at the same time, so even more people in the house can view their favourite shows.

The only downside of this box is that it only has 500 hours storage compared to the 1000 hours you’ll find on the 2TB model.

Here’s the full pricing:

• The Sky Q 1TB UHD box costs start from £25, the 2TB box costs start from £50

• Sky TV packs start from £22 a month

• Sky Q Experience costs £13 per month on top of your Sky TV pack and includes Ultra HD and Sky Go Extra

• Ultra HD content depends on your subscription level

The news of this update comes as Sky has just announced its Black Friday deals.

These offers have just gone live and include 50 percent off a range of bundles including Sports, Entertainment and Cinema.

There are even deals which throw in broadband for good measure.
