Man Utd make Erling Haaland January transfer decision because of Barcelona and Real Madrid

Manchester United are keen on RB Salzburg attacker Erling Haaland and could make a January swoop.

That’s because the Red Devils fear the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid or Juventus could beat them to his signing if the 19-year-old decides his future in the summer.

United are ready to go all out for Haaland in January and loan him back to Salzburg for the remainder of the current season as a result.

That’s according to ESPN who claim the impressive striker is one of eight players Ed Woodward and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are looking at.

Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, Leicester midfielder James Maddison, Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, West Ham ace Declan Rice, Aston Villa pair John McGinn and Jack Grealish and Lyon forward Moussa Dembele are all on the club’s radar.

Haaland has taken the Bundesliga by storm this season.

The Norwegian has netted an incredible 26 goals in just 18 appearances across all competitions.

However, Haaland has been warned off from Alf Ingve Berntsen from making a move to a big club as this point in his career.

Berntsen, who worked with the young striker at Bryne, told Goal and Spox: “Erling is a dominant character, sitting on the bench would not be easy for him.

“What many forget: Haaland was not even a regular player at Salzburg recently.

“He did not play regularly until August this year.

“Of course he caused hype with his goals, but it would probably be advisable to stay at Salzburg for another year.

“The most important thing for Erling is to play regularly at the highest possible level. It would be bad for him not to play at his new club.

“He needs playing time at the highest level in order to evolve. To be a substitute at a top club would be a hindrance to this development.”
