Emma Barton: Strictly star makes ‘jealous’ dig at Anton Du Beke over Michelle Visage

Emma Barton, 42, who is best known for her role as Honey Mitchell on EastEnders, took a cheeky swipe at her Strictly Come Dancing professional partner Anton Du Beke, 53, when she admitted she was “jealous” of co-star Michelle Visage’s routine. The Ru Paul Drag Race star revealed she will be performing a Madonna inspired Vogue performance on the BBC  show tomorrow night.

Speaking to Gethin Jones on It Takes Two, Emma appeared to disregard her own performance as she praised Michelle and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice.

The soap star said: “Just to let you know – we have discussed it, but I’m actually going to make a little appearance in their number because I’m so excited about their dance.”

Emma continued: “I’m so jealous. I need to do it. I said to Michelle and Giovanni I’m either going to cry or literally wet myself because I’m that excited about this number.”

Anton who was sat beside Emma looked on with a smile on his face.

As she teased her performance, Emma began to make hand movements imitating the iconic 80s Vogue dance move.

Meanwhile, the EastEnders actress has revealed she would like to get Anton as far into the competition as possible as the dancing duo will perform in Blackpool this weekend.

The veteran ballroom dancer has been on the show since it began in 2004 but has never won the Glitterball Trophy, although he has been in the final once before.

Asked if she could be the one to help Anton win Strictly, Emma divulged: “I feel very much like everything is teamwork, and yes, of course I want to do well for him, he’s the pro, I want to make him proud.

“I feel as if I’ve done that by getting to Blackpool, so whatever happens after that, whether it’s going further or going home at the weekend, I feel like I’ve set out what I wanted to achieve, which was Blackpool.”

She added: “But if I can get him further, oh my gosh, that would be lovely. He has made the final before so that does take the pressure off a little bit.”

Anton made the Strictly final in 2015 alongside presenter Katie Derham.

Ahead of her performance in Blackpool, the soap star admitted she didn’t think she would of made it this far in the competition.

“Especially after rumba week, I thought, that’s me going home, so to actually be here is overwhelming,” she said.

“Just entering this ballroom literally took my breath away. It’s stunning and I feel very, very fortunate. I’m just going to take it all in, absorb every single second of today and tomorrow.”

Emma and Anton will perform an American Smooth o Ella FitzGerald’s version of Irving Berlin’s Let’s Face The Music And Dance in the Strictly Blackpool episode.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday on BBC One at 7.05pm.
