Kate Middleton: How the Duchess is already preparing for Prince William to be king

Kate Middleton is the Duchess of Cambridge and it is likely she will become Queen consort when Prince William takes the throne. If this were to happen, the Duchess would share the same social status at the King and she would be given her own coronation. Although this will probably not happen anytime soon, Kate may already have been preparing for the important role.

Kate is a full-time working member of the Royal Family which means she will often step out with Prince William on official trips.

She already holds the important titles the Duchess of Cambridge, the Countess of Strathearn and Lady Carrickfergus.

Kate is also, by marriage, a princess of the United Kingdom and is styled with Her Royal Highness status.

However, she will get an even bigger role in the future and could already be preparing for this.

Over the years, Kate has made subtle changes when making fashion choices, stylist Melita Latham told Express.co.uk.

The Duchess has swapped out casual looks for lace garments and more conservative pieces.

This could show Kate is preparing for a more important royal role in the future.

Melita explained: “Over the years since Kate has joined the royal household, you cannot fail to notice the change in her appearance.

DON’T MISS

“Long gone are the figure flattering, sheer summer dresses, only to be replaced with stylish, heavier, figure covering suits.

“Some ensembles, almost military in appearance, Kate’s wardrobe is certainly leaning towards that of her husband’s grandmother.

“Even during recent royal engagements during the summer months, bare arms, replaced with lace and veil.”

The Duchess appears to be leaning towards a look which is more similar to Queen Elizabeth II than others her age.

Melita added: “We all follow this process as we move through the different stages of our lives, but Kate appears to have missed 20 years and moved straight to her 50 plus years.”

However, this could be down to the pressure of her growing role and living in the public eye.

It is also natural for people to change their look as they get older which is why Kate’s style may be changing.

“There can be no doubt that for many of us, as we mature, our dress sense follows,” she added.

“Changes in our confidence, body shape and the effects of family life, all combine to change our dress code.

“Consider then, all the above and add the gaze of the world’s press. This, along with motherhood and the pressure of royal duties, what a challenge, but what a woman too.

“Furthermore, with the expectation and sheer weight of history being documented, it’s enough to drive any woman to cover up.”
