The musician claimed the FLOTUS’ place in US politics “opened the door for anyone” to become the First Lady. He also claimed that the Trumps had “lowered standards for everything”. Mr Legend made the comments during an interview with Vanity Fair.
He was discussing politics in a spread for the magazine with wife Chrissy Teigen.
Both were targeted by Trump in a series of tweets earlier this year.
Trump called Ms Teigen “filthy mouthed” during his rant about the passing of a law, while claiming Mr Legend was “boring” in a rant in September.
But firing back, Mr Legend said: “Hasn’t Melania opened the door for anyone to be a first lady?”
“The biggest issue about this presidency is how they’ve just lowered standards for everything.
“Hopefully we’ll reset?”
In September, Mr Legend and Melania had another falling out after the musician mocked her on social media.
Mr Legend suggested Melania was “too occupied” with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to pay any attention to her husband while at the G7 Summit.

Trump added: ”Guys like boring musician @johnlegend, and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is, but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed.”
The Grammy-winner responded to criticisms of his “filthy mouthed wife” by taking to social media to take aim at Melania.
The singer wrote on Twitter: “Melania, please praise this man. He needs you. Your country needs you, Melania.”
He followed up the post by retweeting an image of the First Lady leaning in for a kiss with Mr Trudeau at the G7 summit in France last month.
In his Tweet, Legend suggested Melania was too “occupied” to focus on her husband.
He wrote: “Ah yes, Melania is otherwise occupied. My apologies, @realDonaldTrump.“
