Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang given transfer promise as Real Madrid circle

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been told he can will be allowed to leave the Gunners if he wishes to do so.

The Gabon international has been superb for the club since his move from Borussia Dortmund and last year shared the Premier League Golden Boot with Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Aubameyang is said to be considering his future with Arsenal once again struggling to make it into the top four and therefore ensuring Champions League qualification.

According to El Desmarque, Real Madrid are keen on a £69million raid for the 30-year-old.

James Rodriguez could be included in a swap deal to drive down the price for Aubameyang.

And the report claims Aubameyang has been told if he chooses to leave Arsenal then club chiefs will listen to offers.

The forward is under contract until the summer of 2021 but is in no rush to extend his deal and is keen to consider his future before making a decision.

Aubameyang was named the new captain of Arsenal last night when Unai Emery confirmed Granit Xhaka had been stripped of the armband.

On the captaincy Emery confirmed: “I was speaking with [Xhaka] this morning and also I decided he is not one of the captains in our group. I decided that and I told him this morning.

“He accepted my decision. And also I told the other captains the decision.

“We need to carry on and focus for tomorrow’s match and next Saturday’s match. I needed to make a decision and now it is closed.”

Arsenal return to action later today when they take on Vitoria in the Europa League at 3.50pm.

The match has been moved to Wednesday instead of taking place on Thursday due to a fixture clash.

Aubameyang will not feature though as he has been rested by the under-pressure Emery.
