Kaitlynn Carter has penned a new essay for Elle in which she opens up about falling in love with a female friend over the summer. Kaitlynn and Miley Cyrus fueled rumors, gossip, and intense speculation after the two were photographed kissing while vacationing in Italy together. Though Kaitlynn Carter never mentioned Miley Cyrus specifically by name, it was clear to readers that Kaitlynn was speaking about Miley. News that Kaitlynn and Miley were an item surfaced in August, by the end of September they were over.
At 31-years-old, Kaitlynn’s fans were surprised when she entered into a same-sex relationship, but they weren’t shocked. The Hills: New Beginnings cast member explained she has been exploring her sexuality and fighting against norms and just enjoying herself while she lives her best life.
Here is a portion of what Kaitlynn said in the essay about embracing a same-sex relationship.
“This past July, I went on vacation with a female friend; the next thing I knew, I was in love with her. It wasn’t quite that simple, of course. But it also wasn’t very complicated, either. Until that trip, it had never crossed my mind that I was even capable of loving a woman the way I loved her. But after reflecting on my romantic history, I realized that I’ve never really had a ‘type’.”
Kaitlynn truly opened up in the piece titled, “Kaitlynn Carter On Her Summer Of Self-Discovery” and many people were surprised by her candidness. Though Kaitlynn and Miley were only together for a short time, Kaitlynn made it very clear that she was in love with Miley.
