Bonfire night 2019: When is Bonfire night weekend – will fireworks be this weekend?

Guy Fawkes Night is held annually on November 5. The date is sometimes known as Bonfire Night and marks the anniversary of the discovery of the Catholic conspirators plot to blow up Parliament in London in 1605.

Many people light bonfires and set off fireworks to mark the occasion – but given Guy Fawkes Day falls on a Tuesday this year, what weekend will the celebrations be?

This year, most of the larger-scale firework displays will be taking place on the preceding Friday and Saturday.

So that’s November 2 and 3 – which will coincide with Day of the Dead celebrations.
