Coronation Street unusually returned to ITV tonight with a half-hour instalment which showed David Platt’s (played by Jack P. Shepherd) fate sealed a the judge refused to grant him bail. At the end of the episode, Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton) woke up and told the police the hairdresser was to blame for the injuries he sustained. But what if Josh’s lie is part of a bigger plan to take down David once and for all with the help of the other inmates?

David thought he had dealt with his rape earlier this year only to come face to face with the perpetrator in prison.

After confiding in another inmate about the ordeal he went through at the hands of Josh, David found himself embroiled in a prison riot.

But what if this is part of Josh’s bigger plan to destroy David in a bitter revenge twist?

“It was always going to be hard sell. But you know what isn’t the truth?” David’s solicitor Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) said.

“I never touched him it was them, I saw them do it,” David reiterated.

“David you have to let me tell them I can protect you. If Josh dies, and even if he doesn’t, you’re putting your faith in a man like that to clear your name,” Imran pleaded.

“We don’t want to rush you, the doctors said you need time to recover so take your time,” the police officer said.

“It’s fine, I wanted to talk to you,” Josh remarked.

“Right then ok, we’re listening. Do you remember the events?” The officer probed.

And Josh replied: “The riot? Yes, I remember…David Platt. It was all David Platt, he tried to kill me.”
