The Reds progressed via a penalty shootout after an incredible 5-5 draw in the 90 minutes.
Klopp’s side took the lead after Shkodran Mustafi scored a howler of an own goal but before they knew it Liverpool were 3-1 down.
Lucas Torreira and a Gabriel Martinelli double put the Gunners in a strong position.
James Milner then converted a penalty to leave the score 3-2 at half-time.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles restored Arsenal’s two-goal cushion in the second half before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain netted a screamer to peg them back.
Divock Origi followed that up by putting Liverpool back on level terms but Joe Willock scored a beautiful curling effort to make it 5-4.
But Origi stole the headlines with an injury-time equaliser and youngster Curtis Jones converted the winning penalty in the shootout.
Klopp was delighted with the effort and character his players were able to show in coming back from being down on several occasions at Anfield.
He said: “We made some mistakes, we played some average passes. We were too open at times. We can talk about tactics but who cares on a night like this? I hoped for the boys they would have a game to remember. What they did tonight, I lost it really.
“It’s like a dream to play for the first time at Anfield, but things might not be going right and you have to stay on track. All our goals we cored were wonderful.
“Kelleher is an outstanding talent. The crossing from Williams, he might not thought he would play tonight.
“Jones… it was not my decision in the end for him to take the last penalty. When I saw the list Origi was the taker of the last one and they changed it obviously.
“If you don’t win nobody remembers it in three years, if it works out the boys will remember it forever.”
