Carol Kirkwood: ‘Nothing is sacred’ BBC weather star speaks out as backstage pics emerge

Carol Kirkwood’s surprising outfit choice was seemingly outed on Twitter on Thursday, which left her questioning if anything was “sacred”. The BBC Breakfast presenter wowed on screen in a stunning, patterned dress but it was her footwear that later caused a stir. The 57-year-old’s decision was revealed by the official BBC Weather page on the micro-blogging site, who even zoomed in on the item. They posted: “We got the memo @BBCBreakfast Tomasz,”(sic) while sharing not one but three backstage images of her.

The first saw Carol stood in front of her green screen, showing off her curves in a vibrant ensemble.

The short-sleeved number featured a modest neckline and a vibrant yellow pattern, while her hair was worn down in a natural wave.

She beamed at the camera and appeared more than happy to pose for the shot, before her feet came into view.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star wore the chic number with white trainers, and one of her colleagues also opted for the same.

“Nothing is sacred!!! xxx,” Carol wrote back to the original post, but included some crying with laughter emojis.

She was soon inundated with a number of replies, with one user telling her: “Trainers with a dress is such a cute look.”

A fan quipped: “Playing tennis later?” while a third tweeted: “Well, that screen is quite large and you have to cover from the Shetlands to the Channel Islands in quick succession, a little running may be called for!”

Another user gushed: “You’re as fashionable as I am, that’s how I dress, comfy and practical.”

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Carol had updated on the latest forecast while making sure fans didn’t forget something very important.

She started: “Watch out for patchy fog this morning (some dense) across parts of SW Eng, NW Eng, the Midlands, SE Eng and East Anglia @BBCbreakfast xxx.

“Don’t forget the clocks go BACK an hour this weekend (early hours of Sunday morning) @BBCBreakfast.”(sic)

It comes just days after Steph McGovern – widely known for presenting BBC Breakfast – announced she had stepped down from her role.

Carol Kirkwood later responded to the shock news to the pregnant star, following the latter’s lengthy post addressing her exit.

She thanked her co-stars, production team and fans for their support over the years after it was revealed she will front her own show next year.

Carol responded to Steph, writing: “You have been a joy to work with babe. Will miss you.”

BBC Breakfast continues tomorrow at 6am on BBC One.
