She continued: “In the early stages it was so hard, my mum wasn’t able to come and watch me play football because she was trying to do everything she could work and provide for me and my brother so we could live out my dreams.”
Alex’s mum Carol was also shown talking about how proud she was of her daughter.
The clip then cut back to Alex who could be seen wiping tears from her eyes.
“My mum, she’s pretty incredible. Seeing how much of an amazing woman she is, made me the person I am,” she sobbed.
Despite her professional partner Neil Jones being replaced by Kevin due to an injury, Alex garnered positive comments from the judges.
Craig Revel Horwood commented: “I thought she did very very well. The style real suits your compact body.”
However, he added with street dance, “you have to hit picture, picture, picture, I felt you were just missing some of those pictures”.
