The Capture season 2 release date: Will there be another series of The Capture?

The Capture wrapped up on the BBC recently as the thriller left fans with many questions. Viewers are now wondering if there could be a second outing. Here’s all the latest updates on a possible follow-up.

Will there be another series of The Capture?

The BBC has yet to confirm whether the show will be recommissioned.

However, The Capture creator Ben Chanan told The Radio Times: “I always wanted Shaun Emery’s story to be resolved within these six hours because I don’t like stringing people along,”

“I think people are watching partly – possible mainly – every week to find out what happened to Shaun.

“We want to know who’s done this to him, who really took Hannah, who faked the video, and why.

“And I hope we answer all those questions satisfyingly.”

Although Chanan’s words suggested the story of The Capture had been wrapped up in the finale, he did tell Express.co.uk: “I mean, never say never. I don’t know yet.”

He added: “We’ll see how we feel at the end of it.”

When will The Capture season 2 be released?

A release date will depend if and when the BBC gives the show the green light.

As always, a renewal is dependent on ratings and how many people tuned in to the show on BBC iPlayer.

If the show does get the go-ahead then it could be airing in September next year.

There are also likely to be another six episodes in a second series should it happen.

What will happen in The Capture season 2?

WARNING: This section contains spoilers from The Capture season 1

A number of loose ends were left in the finale including the back-up Rachel made of the original footage of Hannah Roberts (Laura Haddock) boarding a bus, which proved the Correction video involving Shaun was a fake.

The footage could be used as collateral by Rachel should the show return for another outing.

Rachel’s younger sister Abigail seemed to be suspicious of her sibling and may get her hands on the footage and share it by mistake.

Also, season two could see Rachel’s role develop within Counter-Terrorism as she works with the system and uses Correction herself.

A possible second outing could see Shaun’s innocence proved in regard to Hannah’s murder – despite the soldier unlawfully killing an unarmed man in Helmand Province while on tour in Afghanistan.

Alternatively, season two could look at a brand new case involving Correction with fresh characters.
