New Zealand vs Ireland LIVE: Rugby World Cup updates as All Blacks take control in Tokyo

New Zealand face a tricky tie against Ireland in the second Rugby World Cup quarter-final on Saturday.

The All Blacks go into the match as Pool B winners, having narrowly seen off challengers South Africa earlier in the tournament.

Ireland, meanwhile, finished behind surprise package Japan in Pool A, and only qualified for the knockout phase after the hosts beat Scotland in the final match of the group stage.

While New Zealand go into the quarter-final as favourites, Ireland’s Johnny Sexton believes that they have enough quality in their squad to make it to the semi-finals.

“You look around and see guys like Garry Ringrose, Jacob Stockdale and James Ryan. Guys that are just top quality people and players,” he said.

“Then you look around at some of the more experienced guys that have been around the block so that’s what gives us belief and confidence.

“It’s been a long time in the back of our minds, this quarter-final.

“We’re here now. It’s a little bit ‘I can’t believe it’s finally here’.”
