Kate Middleton married into the Royal Family in April 2011.

Since she has attended many official events, now an expert at representing Her Majesty.

The way Kate has entered the Royal Family is likely to have endeared her to the Queen, the expert claims.

In fact, it appears to have created friendship between the two, no doubt something many royal brides wish they could emulate.

“Kate was always a slow but steady integrator into the royal firm and her slightly traditional approach, making very few if any ripples in continuity.

“It does seem to have resonated with the Queen, who increasingly appears to treat her as a friend as well as a daughter-in-law.”

Mirror mirror

Mirroring is a very clever technique that can be used to create a rapport with someone. Whether natural or unnatural, mirroring in when two people’s body language is aligned.

It creates feelings of unity and closer bonds between two people.

Judi said: “Kate is quite careful to mirror the Queen’s body language when they appear together and this flattering postural echo now looks like a natural trait rather than an acquired one.

“Kate stepped quite slowly into the spotlight but now she’s there she shows signs of becoming the family’s new future matriarch.”

Eye contact

“Kate is one of the few people the Queen seems to use prolonged bouts of eye contact with, making them look very chatty together, leaning head-to-head and with the Queen often being the one using signals of intense listening, suggesting it’s Kate doing the entertaining,” Judi said.

While the Queen is often thought of as a naturally shy woman, with Kate she chats away with ease.

Judi said: “At the flower show it was Kate almost rushing forward to kiss the Queen on either cheek, with one hand gently and fondly on her arm.

“The Queen appeared to be chatting very quickly and this defines the keenness they seem to have to be in each other’s company.”

What the curtsey reveals

Having had much time to practice, Kate’s curtsey is almost perfect. Yet again, it seems to hint more at friendship than subservience.

Judi said: “Kate’s more relaxed curtsey involves eye contact and a broad smile that makes it a greeting ritual as much as an act of obeisance.”

Judi claims this may be down to Kate’s hugely important role in the Royal Family, that of a future Queen.

“This could be down to practice making perfect in terms of her ability to be more relaxed and confident or it could imply a different protocol when a future Queen meets the current.”
