Michelle Obama snub: Former FLOTUS in shock book clash as she reignites Clinton-Obama feud

The former First Lady’s publisher announced on Monday that the companion piece to her memoir, ‘Becoming’ will be released next month, just in time for early Christmas shoppers. The journal companion will be hitting the shelves on November 19, accordant to a press release by book publisher Penguin Random House.

Titled ‘Becoming: A Guided Journal for Discovering Your Voice’, the journal will include a new introduction from Michelle.

As well as costing the hefty sum of $20 (£16), Michelle has managed to steal the limelight from former FLOTUS Hillary Clinton.

Rumours of an ongoing rivalry between the Obamas and the Clintons have been rife for years but Michelle’s latest move could reignite the alleged feud.

Hillary’s book, which was also written with her daughter Chelsea Clinton, is called ‘The Book of Gutsy Women’.

The book shares the stories of the “gutsy” women who have inspired them.

Hillary’s book was released on October 1.

But not being a woman to shy away from the limelight, just six days later, Michelle decided to announce the release of her journal.

Author of ‘First Women: The Grace and Power of America’s Modern First Ladies’, Kate Andersen Brower has said that the women’s personalities clash.

She even read files of previously unread correspondence between the First Ladies.

The resentment between the two women began after Hillary mocked Barack Obama’s message of hope at a rally in Ohio when she was running for the Democrat nomination.

She said: “I could stand up here and say, ‘Let’s just get everybody together.

“Let’s get unified. The sky will open, the light will come down, celestial choirs will be singing, and everyone will know that we should do the right thing, and the world would be perfect’…”

One of the Obama’s former aides told Ms Brower: “When Michelle Obama views the Clintons, I don’t want to say she’s looking down her nose at them – but she kind of is.”

Ms Brower told The Daily Telegraph: “The Obamas think that more could have been done in Clinton’s White House if it weren’t for President Clinton’s personal life.”

When Michelle was living in the White House, Ms Brower said the FLOTUS could not wait to leave.

Ms Brower said: “The Obamas see themselves as people who are fighting for causes and ideals, not for money and power – which is how they see the Clintons.

“Hillary can’t wait to come back to the White House, but Michelle can’t wait to leave.”

Hillary was First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001, a United States senator from 2001 to 2009, and the 67th United States secretary of state from 2009 until 2013.
