Jonnie Irwin addresses the end of Escape To The Country rumours

Jonnie Irwin, 42, has reassured worried fans that his recent tweet didn’t mean Escape To The Country will end.

“New series [Escape To The] Perfect Town starts tomorrow at 3pm on BBC One,” he tweeted.

“My highlight was filming around Berkhamsted where I ‘escaped’ to a year ago.”

“I’ve loved creating a new series from the beginning and putting my own stamp on some of the shows. Hope u enjoy” (sic).

The tribute led to some anxious viewers eager to know if the tweet hid a cryptic message.

“I hope this doesn’t mean the end for Escape To The Country??” One fan asked.

Jonnie was quick to address the concerns making it clear the show was here to stay.

“No don’t worry – more new Escape To The Country shows coming your way soon too,” Jonnie replied.

The reassurance satisfied fans who said they were “looking forward” to watching the new show too.

This particular episode is the second in the series and filmed in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire where Jonnie welcomes a London city quitter couple to the town he felt was perfect enough to move to himself.

The potential buyers have two young children, a £700,000 budget and want to find their dream family home in a place that has all they require – fast train links, a friendly feel and lots of fresh air.

Jonnie dives into the local coffee and craft ale culture, then slows things right down near the Grand Union canal.

To throw the best properties into the mix, Jonnie pushes them the extra mile so they can make a firm decision on their perfect town.

The property expert also presents A Place In The Sun and was left utterly gobsmacked after possible buyers dropped a bombshell offer for their favourite property.

The conclusion of the instalment saw the Channel 4 host unable to hide his frustration with the potential buyers.

Following viewings around some beautiful French properties near lake Languedoc, participants Tracy and her sister Helen came to a decision that wasn’t met well by Jonnie or the seller.

As Tracy declared she was only going to offer £85,000 for the fifth wild card property that stole her heart, the seller gave a stern “no” as the property was on the market for £117,000.

Jonnie and his wife celebrated a big family milestone earlier this year while filming A Place In The Sun in Spain, as their three-month-old son Rex embarked on his first plane journey.

The presenter explained his decision to take his family with him: “This has been our first voyage, I got a bit tired of going away and leaving my family at home.”

Escape to the Perfect Town airs weekdays at 3pm on BBC One.
