Asteroid alert: NASA tracks three rocks flying past Earth – One was found three days ago

NASA said: “As they orbit the Sun, Near-Earth Objects can occasionally approach close to Earth.

“Note that a ’close’ passage astronomically can be very very far away in human terms: millions or even tens of millions of kilometres.”

Asteroid TV1 is estimated to measure somewhere in the range of 55.7ft to 124.6ft (17m to 38m) across.

The rock is flying through space at speeds of around 8.97km per second or 20,065mph (32,292kph).

The asteroid will approach the planet around 2.41am BST (1.41am UTC).

Asteroid trackers first spotted TV1 on October 5, 2019.
