Stacey Dooley breaks silence on Kevin Clifton and Anneka Rice’s Strictly exit: ‘So proud’

Stacey Dooley, 32, opened up about her reaction to Kevin Clifton, 36, and Anneka Rice’s, 61, exit from Strictly Come Dancing 2019. The documentary filmmaker, who won the show with her now-boyfriend Kevin last year, gushed about how “proud” she was of the pair in spite of the result. Kevin and Anneka lost out in the dance-off to David James and Nadia Bychkova after finishing at the bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night. Stacey took a moment to address their departure from the competition in a candid video in view of her 768,000 Instagram followers this evening after the Results Show aired.

The presenter could be seen on the set of her BBC Three show Glow Up, as she explained: “I am still filming Glow Up at the minute, we’re probably going to wrap at about 11 ish.”(sic)

She continued: “But I know everyone’s just found out that Kev and Anneka got knocked out this weekend and I just wanted to say I am so proud of both of them.

“Particularly Kevin because I think he is just the most incredible teacher and I think she was so lucky to have had him and she did that beautiful Waltz.”

The TV personality went on to tell fans she is always proud of her beau, whether he is winning or losing.

She added: “It’s very easy to be proud of someone when you’re winning and you’re flying high and it’s all going brilliantly.

“But it’s also very important to tell them that you think they’re wicked when you’re the second to get knocked out so yes, well done.”

After hushing her companion on the set of Glow Up to conceal their identity in order to keep a surprise secret for the show, she said: “I am sat here filming episode number seven of Glow Up.

“I can show you this lot, but the contribs, the MUAs are just here and there are four left. That’s all.”(sic)

Addressing her outfit situation, Stacey sheepishly admitted: “I’ve got last night’s outfit on and I’ve had about 40 minutes sleep.”

Yesterday, the journalist shared a selfie video on her way to watch the show in the same metallic outfit, while opting for a dark eye makeup look inspired by her and Kevin’s famous Paso Doble from last year’s series.

She captioned the moment: “If we hear anymore about the d**n silver two piece… (Paso eyes for good luck).”

Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
