Your Microsoft Windows 10 PC now looks seriously outdated and this is why

UPDATE: Microsoft’s big October event is now underway and here are all the big announcements LIVE:

First up it’s a new Surface Laptop 3 which now arrives in two sizes including 13-inch and 15-inch.

This device now features more power, a larger trackpad and is fully upgradable so you change things up after you have purchased it.

Although you might not need to as tucked inside the device is a quad-core 10th gen Intel processor which make its two times faster than its predecessor and three times faster than Apple’s MacBook Air.

If you’ve recently spent some of your hard-earned cash on a new Microsoft Windows 10 PC then you might want to avoid hearing this afternoon’s news.

The US technology firm has a major event scheduled in New York at 3pm BST and a range of new Surface laptops and tablets look set to be top of the agenda. Although, if these leaked prices for the Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Pro 7 are anything to go by, upgrading your kit to the latest Microsoft hardware won’t be a cheap affair.

Although nothing has been officially confirmed by Microsoft, the Redmond firm has teased fans with an invite that shows the famous Microsoft logo and the words “Tune in to see what’s next.”

Along with the invite, a message has also been posted on social media which suggests big things are coming with the firm revealing: “We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: New and innovative things are coming at the #MicrosoftEvent.”

Microsoft might be staying tight-lipped about the upcoming news but some recently leaked images may have given its game away.

Top tipster Evan Blass has posted a number of images on his Twitter feed which claims to show a new Surface Laptop 3, Surface Pro 7 and an ARM-Powered Surface which ditches its dependency on Intel chips.

We’ll have to wait and see exactly what new features will be included but expect these updated machines to be more powerful with a refreshed design and improved performance.

Fans may also get their first glimpse of the new dual-screen machine which is codenamed Centaurus.

It’s thought this device could offer users all the productivity specs we’ve come to expect from Microsoft but with an entertainment focus built-in as well.

Rumours suggest this 2-in-1 laptop could get dual 9-inch screens, feature 4G connectivity and be able to run Android apps.

Along with these new PCs, Microsoft is also expected to reveal more news about its next Windows 10 update.

Windows 10 19H2 is already being tested by Windows Insiders but a full release announcement would make sense during Microsoft’s keynote.

This new software is mainly about overall system improvements and fixes rather than offering fans a bunch of new features.

Hopefully, Microsoft will announce more news on when this upgrade is coming at its event today.

Things are expected to get underway at around 10am in the Big Apple – that’s 3pm BST.
