Triple deal

Manchester United will look to sign a striker in January with Ousmane Dembele, Timo Werner and Moussa Dembele top of their wish list.

The Red Devils are desperately short in attack after letting Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez leave for Inter Milan in the summer.

“The Man United manager has mentioned that he would like to buy a striker in January,” football expert Ian McGarry said on Reach PLC’s Transfer Window podcast.

“The three names we have been told from a reliable source, in no particular order, are RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner.

“Lyon’s Moussa Dembele, formerly of Celtic, and Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, who really has had a bit of a nightmare time since his transfer from Borussia Dortmund.”

English lessons

Former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly learning English as he eyes the Manchester United job.

Allegri left Juventus in the summer and is reportedly now on the hunt for a job in the Premier League.

Manchester United could be searching for a new manager soon with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer under immense pressure.

And The Guardian claim that Allegri is keen on taking over from Solskjaer should he lose his job.

It’s understood that the Red Devils do not plan on sacking Solskjaer but Allegri is learning English in case the opportunity arises.

Quartet wanted

Manchester United plan to sign FOUR new players over the next year.

That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who claim the club are looking to sign a full-back, midfielder, playmaker and a striker.

James Maddison, Ben Chilwell, Jadon Sancho and Declan Rice are said to be on the shortlist.

The MEN claim United will be working against the clock and want to conclude any signings before Euro 2020 to avoid any price inflation.

Paul Pogba absent

Paul Pogba has not travelled to Holland for Manchester United’s Europa League clash with AZ Alkmaar following specialist advice about a foot injury.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side continue their Group L campaign in The Hague on Thursday night, when the World Cup winner will be among a number of high-profile absentees.

Pogba played the entirety of last week’s Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out win against Rochdale and Monday’s 1-1 league draw with Arsenal, but an ongoing foot issue means he will not be heading with United to Holland.

The club said: “Following a specialist’s opinion, Paul Pogba requires a period of further rest and conservative treatment for the foot injury he sustained during the game against Southampton in August. Updates will follow in due course.”
