Michelle Obama embarrassingly mocks her husband by revealing how they really got together

The former FLOTUS began her tour in Winnipeg, Canada last week giving a reflective speech about parenting and her own background. The first of many talks on her tour named “A Conversation with Michelle Obama”, the Q&A-style presentation mentioned how women often doubt themselves when a man would not.

Michelle then revealed how she has finally realised she was good enough in her 50s.

She also mentioned the challenges of parenting and the power all people have to inspire others.

She said: “The power to raise a good human being, to me, is more powerful than any world leader.”

However, she also revealed a shocking revelation about her husband, former US President Barack Obama.

Although the couple are known for regularly quipping at each other in jest, Michelle may have just pushed it too far.

The best-selling author revealed that she did not think too highly of Barack before she met him as she thought he had a “weird name”.

She knew there was a person coming to her Chicago law firm but remained skeptical of him.

She then savaged her husband even further by saying he benefitted from her having low standards.

She mentioned how she cried when she sent her daughter to university and how insecure she was when she gave birth to her first born.

She also worked to inspire her audience and empathise with them.

She said: “I want everybody in this auditorium to think to themselves, ‘I can change a life.’

“The question just becomes: whose life are you going to pick?”

Michelle later mentioned her working class upbringing on the south side of Chicago.

She also revealed how her mother always said that some children would not get the same opportunities as her in life.

She said: “For every one of me, there were hundreds of kids who, but for the grace of God, didn’t get to be where I was.”

Before becoming First Lady, Michelle attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School.

She had a career as an attorney at a Chicago Law firm called Sidley & Austin, where she met her husband Barack.

She then worked at the Chicago mayor’s office, the University of Chicago and the University of Chicago Medical Centre.

Her best-selling memoir, ‘Becoming’, sold more copies than any other book published in the US in 2018.
