Jurassic World 3 release date: When will Jurassic World sequel come out in cinemas?

Jurassic World saw the Jurassic Park franchise revitalised and modernised. Featuring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in leading roles, the new movies have captured the imagination of a whole new generation. Fans are desperate to find out when they will see the new movie on the big screen.

When will Jurassic World 3 be out in cinemas?

Director Colin Trevorrow has confirmed the new movie will be released on June 11, 2021.

That does mean fans will have a little while to wait for the new film – however it will be well worth it when they discover the cast.

Of course, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return as dinosaur trainer Owen Grady and ops manager Claire Dearing.

But the dinosaur team will grow as three franchise heavyweights will be reunited for the first time since the first Jurassic Park film in 1993: Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum.

Jeff’s arrogant researcher Dr Ian Malcom featured in the first two Jurassic Park films, and made his return to the franchise in the second of the new trilogy: Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom.

Sam and Laura, who played Dr Alan Great and Dr Ellie Sattler, featured in the first and third Jurassic Park films, and have not yet returned to the franchise.

So far, the only character who has reappeared in the Jurassic World franchise from the Jurassic Park films is Dr. Henry Wu, played by BD Wong, and he is expected to return once again – meaning four characters from the first film will have returned.

Details on the plot of the film have been kept under wraps, until director Colin Trevorrow opened up at the screening of his Jurassic World short film, Battle at Big Rock.

He told Collider Battle at Big Rock “takes place one year after the events of Fallen Kingdom.”

He said: “It’s about a family on a camping trip to Big Rock National Park, about 20 miles from where the last film ended.

“There have been a few sightings, but this is the first major confrontation between dinosaurs and humans.”

The short film is expected to act as a precursor to the third Jurassic World film, and teases the return of Drs Sattler, Malcolm and Grant, along with Pratt and Dallas Howard’s characters.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Trevorrow said the third film “will be focused storytelling with dinosaurs all over the world.”

He said: “We really wanted this technology, this genetic power, to go open-source at the end of the film.

“What we’re suggesting is not just that these specific animals that we care about that were in captivity were freed, but also that the ability to create these animals has gone a little bit wider than our friend Dr. Wu.

“The open-sourcing of any technology, like nuclear power, that’s the scary side for me.”
