Greta Thunberg a victim of ‘child abuse’ claims Aussie conservative in TV tirade

Andrew Bolt, host of the Bolt Report for Sky News Australia, claimed in a near 10 minute long piece that climate activist Greta Thunberg is the victim of child abuse. Mr Bolt drew from several clips and public speaking events held by Ms Thunberg to allege that the 16-year-old campaigner is being mistreated.

The conservative political commentator carried out his shtick so characteristic of the Bolt Report.

The Sky News host said: “Greta Thunberg, you know I hope some people are ashamed of themselves after her meltdown speech at UN climate event.

“I hope all these activists those reckless politicians who treated this chronically anxious and disturbed 16 year old as their new messiah are now shocked into some sense at last.

“I hope they’re now able to see that they’ve been party not just to a collective hysteria, but to an extraordinary child abuse.”

The speech in question happened earlier this week in which Ms Thunberg excoriated world leaders for their betrayal of young people through their inertia over the climate crisis.

The summit duly failed to deliver any ambitious new commitments to address climate change.

The Swedish teenager told government officials present that “you are still not mature enough to tell it like it is. You are failing us. But the young people are starting to understand your betrayal.”

The speech came days after millions of young people around the world joined in protests to demand emergency action on climate change.

Mr Bolt drew attention to the teens background as a means to explain why he thinks she has been victim to what he calls a scandalous abuse.

Speaking to The Guardian earlier this year Ms Thunberg asserted: “I kept thinking about climate change and I just wondered if I am going to have a future.

“That’s when I kind of realised I could make a difference. And how I got out of that depression was that I thought: it is just a waste of time feeling this way because I can do so much good with my life. I am trying to do that still now.”

However, Mr Bolt was dogmatic in his reasoning that the teenager was victim of abuse, no matter how unfounded his claims seemed to everyone else.

He said: “Here are some things you need to know about her, things her followers hate me pointing out.

“She is not the messiah, she is just a depressed, extremely anxious girl and a very unhappy one.

“Her own parents and greta herself have talked of her battle with depression and chronic anxiety.

“They talk of how anxious she was Greta couldn’t go to school, couldn’t eat for two months, couldn’t speak at all for long periods.

“Her autism and asperges syndrome, they’ve tried to claim this was a superpower, but asperges is very rarely an advantage and in this case.

“She seems chronically attracted to apocalyptic visions chronically attracted to fear.

“That is why it is child abuse to feed such a child crazy threatening visions that global warming is going to wipe her out and wipe out the planet.

“And it is child abuse to then applause this poor fearful child when they get her up on the stage to repeat back to them those dark visions to the deceitful adults that have trained her so terribly.”

Mr Bolt then cued the now eminent clip of Ms Thunberg at the UN.

Following the video, Mr Bolt expressed his disdain for the scenes of Ms Thunberg’s speech.

He said: “I have such contempt for the all adults who made this girl cry with all their global warming lies.

“Like the UN secretary general who met and encouraged Thunberg and himself got up on that stage yesterday to tell bizarre untruths.”

António Guterres, the man in question, talked about how humans can no longer think they can get away with fooling nature with lazy and lacklustre attitudes towards the climate, adding a story about his visit to Tuvalu, an island nation in the South Pacific that has experienced significant land loss in recent years as a result of rising sea levels.

Mr Bolt proceeded to cite a 2019 study by Auckland University that found Tuvalu to be actually growing in size, not shrinking.

Though, Mr Bolt did not cite the fact that the island is growing because it is responding to coastal erosion by shooting upwards in height.
