Two major oil facilities were attacked by Yemeni Houthi rebels in what was an “unprecedented” hit on oil reserves in the country. A rebel spokesman confirmed the attack by 10 drones and resulted in halving the country’s daily oil production.
Following that bold attack, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova ridiculed Washington over its missile systems which failed to protect the oil sites.
Ms Zakharova boasted that the “brilliant US air defense systems could not repel an attack”.
The official also reminded onlookers over how “the fantastic U.S. missiles that failed to hit a target more than a year ago”.

In response to the attack, Donald Trump announced that the US would send additional troops to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
General Joseph Dunford admitted that the delivery of troops and missile defence equipment is the first step in bolstering support in the region.
He added: “No single system is going to be able to defend against a threat like that.

“There is no evidence the attacks came from Yemen.”
The Houthi rebel movement is aligned with Iran and has been fighting the Yemen Government and a Saudi-led coalition.
Although Tehran had denied involvement in the attack, this recent strike is just the latest of escalations in the region.
Saudi Arabia and the US both blamed Iran for attacks on two Saudi-flagged oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman.
In the wake of that, a US drone was shot down over the Strait of Hormuz in June.
Due to the downing of the drone, the Pentagon announced the deployment of US troops to Saudi Arabia.
With the increased troops in the region, Iran has warned foreign forces to stay out of the Middle East.
President of the Islamic Republic, Hasan Rouhani had declared that foreign forces had only brought “pain and misery” to the region.
He added: “Your presence has always brought pain and misery for the region.
“The farther you keep yourselves from our region and our nations, the more security there ill be for our region.”
