OnePlus 7 just beat the Samsung Galaxy S10 to this major Android update

OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro are already starting to receive Android 10.

Google released its the next-generation operating system on September 3, meaning the plucky Shenzhen-based firm’s newest devices have been granted it less than 20 days later.

That makes the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro two of the biggest flagships to receive Android 10 since it initially launched for Google Pixel devices.

The OnePlus handsets will run the firm’s new OxygenOS 10.0 skin based on Google’s platform – fans can look forward to a fresh aesthetic, improved privacy settings and new gestures.

OxygenOS also has a number of fantastic features that aren’t available on Google’s vanilla version of Android 10, such as the ability to block certain spam messages by keyword.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

OnePlus has emphasised the new operating system will be rolled out gradually to all OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro owners.

This means if your device does not immediately let you obtain the new software, you shouldn’t worry.

You can check for software updates manually within either device’s settings menu.

The release of Android 10 for the OnePlus 7 series means the mobiles have beaten Samsung’s Galaxy S10 to the update.

There is currently no official word on when the South Korean tech giant will start to roll out Android 10 for its esteemed smartphone lineup.

Last year’s Android 9 Pie software released in full on August 6, but owners of the firm’s latest devices had to wait until December before they started receiving it.

Samsung is holding a developer conference next month – it is possible the vendor will discuss its rollout plans for Android 10 at the event.

The release of Android 10 for the OnePlus 7 comes mere weeks before the firm is scheduled to reveal its next flagship smartphone.

OnePlus has already confirmed it will hold an event in London next month to show off its next-generation OnePlus 7T series.

Just like the firm’s current devices, the 7T is expected to come in a standard and “Pro” variant.

It’s expected the handsets will boast improved cameras and be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset.

Express.co.uk will bring you all the news around the OnePlus 7T series when its announced next month.
