Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replies to Jose Mourinho over Man Utd criticism after West Ham defeat

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Jose Mourinho “has got a right to his opinion” after his scathing assessment of Manchester United’s defeat to West Ham.

United lost 2-0 to the Hammers at the London Stadium with goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Aaron Cresswell, which dropped the Red Devils to seventh place.

Mourinho watched from the Sky Sports studio and shared a brutal analysis of the match claiming the Manchester giants haven’t improved since his dismissal from the helm last season.

The former Chelsea boss added that he is not surprised with the result and is not at all impressed with the team.

Mourinho said: “Any positives? No.

“We were bad last season, but I don’t see any improvements this season.

“I like the three [signings], they bring some good quality to the team.

“The team as a team, I don’t like at all.

“I’m not surprised by the result.”

Solskjaer was asked about Mourinho’s comments during his post-match press conference.

The Norwegian gaffer insists his predecessor is entitled to his own opinion.

The United legend added that the London Stadium is a difficult ground and the team let themselves down by throwing away too many chances.

Solskjaer said: “I think he has got a right to his opinion.

“Of course we lost here last year, it is always a difficult ground to go to and we should hope do better than we did.

“We hope for better but the key moments they grasped, we didn’t.

“Two fantastic finishes, and we just didn’t take the chances when we had them.”
