iPhone 11 launches worldwide – Fans queue as Apple's new flagship goes on sale

The iPhone 11 is now officially on sale with Apple Stores opening early to welcome fans desperate to buy this new device.

Apple’s latest range of smartphones were announced last week at an event in Cupertino, California, and are the very first to feature a new triple rear camera.

This new triple snapper offers the ability to shoot images with a wide-angle lens and there’s a telephoto option packed into the rear case for improved zoom.

Apple has also included a very clever new Night Mode which allows the phone to shoot images in almost total darkness without the need for a flash.

This triple-lens is available on the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max but there’s also a dual-lens camera on the standard iPhone 11 which offers users wide-angle and Night Mode images.

Along with the camera upgrade, there’s also an improved A13 processor, which is now the most powerful in a phone, plus much longer battery life and a more robust design.

Express.co.uk has already reviewed the devices with both the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max impressing us.

You can read our full iPhone 11 review here but in summary, we said: There’s no doubt iPhone 11 is the Apple smartphone many have been waiting for.

“It’s one of the fastest phones on the market thanks to the new A13 Bionic processor, which also extends the battery life by an extra hour compared to the iPhone XR – already a battery life king.

“The camera upgrade is also a huge step forward with fans now able to shoot images with an ultra-wide lens and the option to add the brilliant bokeh-style blur to more of your images.

“However, it’s the Night Mode that really sets the iPhone 11 apart from its predecessor.

“The improvements are in all the areas they need to be – and are almost guaranteed to ensure Apple has a hit on their hands.”

The iPhone 11 starts from £729 with the iPhone 11 Pro costing a hefty £1,049.

However, that eye-watering price doesn’t appear to be putting people off buying one with many fans standing in this morning’s queue clearly keen to get their hands on this more expensive flagship.

At the front of the line was avid Apple fan Sam Shaikh who is a regular when it comes to buying these phones on launch day.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Sam said: “I’m excited to be here again and am buying the iPhone 11 Pro Max for its camera, new colour and battery.”

“The camera looks really interesting and I simply want more battery life.”

Although some of Apple’s new smartphones cross over the £1,000 barrier the firm is trying to make it easier to buy their flagship phones this year.

Firstly they are offering some good trade-in deals when you hand over an older iPhone and you can also spread the cost on zero per cent finance – More details about Apple’s iPhone offers can be found here.

Along with queues in London, there’s also huge crowds expected in New York with Apple opening its refreshed Fifth Avenue store.

The US firm says the store is now nearly double the size of its original version with a higher ceiling and more natural light.

Apple founder, Steve Jobs, opened the store in 2006 and personally welcomed the first customers to enter the iconic cube that sits above the underground shop.

Since then, Apple Fifth Avenue has had over 57 million visitors, more annually than the Statue of Liberty or Empire State Building.

“Our customers are at the centre of everything we do, and Apple Fifth Avenue is for them, to inspire them, and to provide the very best place to discover our newest products,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

“It’s unique among Apple stores, and today it returns even more welcoming, and even more beautiful than ever. We’re so proud to be a part of this great city where so much happens every day.”
