John Bolton said if Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn were to be handed the keys to No10 it would be “fatal to the special relationship” between the US and Britain. His scathing remarks come after he was fired abruptly last week after clashing with US President Donald Trump on a host of issues.
Mr Trump has also been a vocal critic of Mr Corbyn.
Last month, the US leader rushed to the defence of Prime Minister Boris Johnson saying he believed it would be “very hard” for the Labour leader to win a no confidence vote against the Tory leader.
He tweeted: “Would be very hard for Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of Britain’s Labour Party, to seek a no-confidence vote against New Prime Minister Boris Johnson, especially in light of the fact that Boris is exactly what the UK has been looking for, & will prove to be ‘a great one!’ Love UK.”
But the Labour leader hit back tweeting: “I think what the US president is saying, is that Boris Johnson is exactly what he has been looking for, a compliant Prime Minister who will hand Britain’s public services and protections over to US corporations in a free trade deal.”
Mr Bolton was fired after he clashed with President Trump on his relations with Iran.
Mr Trump’s willingness to consider easing sanctions on Iran alarmed Mr Bolton when the president raised the idea at a meeting last Monday.

By the next day, Mr Bolton was out.
Speaking at a private lunch after his sacking, Mr Bolton said Mr Trump’s negotiations with North Korea and Iran were “doomed to failure”, according to politics news site, Politico.co.uk.
Mr Bolton’s departure has removed a central anti-Iran voice from the president’s inner circle.

Mr Bolton was said to be furious in June when Trump abruptly called off air strikes in response to Iran’s downing of a US drone, according to reports.
A former senior administration official said: “If Bolton were there, he would be saying it was definitely Iran to blame for the Saudi attack and we need to strike right now.”
Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Trump said: “Well, I was critical of John Bolton for getting us involved with a lot of other people in the Middle East.
“We’ve spent $7.5trillion in the Middle East and you ought to ask a lot of people about that.
“John was not able to work with anybody, and a lot of people disagreed with his ideas.
“A lot of people were very critical that I brought him on in the first place because of the fact that he was so in favour of going into the Middle East, and he got stuck in quicksand and we became policemen for the Middle East. It’s ridiculous.“
US hostage negotiator Robert O’Brien was named on Wednesday as the person to replace Mr Bolton as Mr Trump’s White House national security adviser.
Mr O’Brien, currently a presidential envoy for hostage affairs at the US Department of State, has a long history in
Republican foreign policy circles.
