Chris Evans: ‘Nothing without me’ Loose Women star Carol McGiffin slams ‘manipulative’ ex

Chris Evans, 53, and Carol McGriffin, 59, tied the knot in 1991 before separating in 1993. The Loose Women star took aim at the radio DJ live on-air as she claimed he was “nothing without me”. When asked by host Nadia Sawalha, 54, why she chose to get married at the time, Carol said she couldn’t explain the reason behind her decision. The broadcaster said: “I was just swept along, at the time I convinced myself I couldn’t live without him.

“He was very manipulative. Anyone who thinks I married him for his money, that’s nonsense because I had more money than him at the time.

“He was nothing without me, nothing. I’m glad it all went a bit wrong.”

Express.co.uk have contacted Chris Evans and Carol McGiffin’s representatives for a comment.

The Loose Women star later married Mark Cassidy, 37, in 2018 in a private ceremony in Thailand.

She recently spoke about their low-key wedding, in her column for Best magazine, saying: “No one knew we were going to do it, but we’ve basically spent the last year having separate celebrations with different friends and family, telling them all in person.

“Now they all know, we’re ready for it to come out.”

Meanwhile, Chris was previously married to actress and former pop singer Billie Piper from 2001 until 2004.

The DJ is now married to his wife Natasha Shishmanian, 38, and the couple share four children together – Walt and Boo, 12 months, as well as Noah, 10, and Eli, seven.

Chris regularly speaks out about his family on his Breakfast Show, giving listeners a rare insight into his home life.

During a recent episode, Chris made a surprising revelation about his wife Natasha which had piqued his interest.

Speaking on the morning show, he said: “I’ve just realised my wife has a tattoo.

“I haven’t just realised that bit,” he clarified. “But it’s a Chinese symbol and I’ve never asked her what it means.”

Vassos queried: “What! You never asked?”

The host replied: “No, I’ve never asked, it never occurred to me. I don’t know! I don’t know why I’ve never asked that.”

He mused: The fact I’ve never asked is more worrying to me, in my own psyche, than what it says.

“I mean, that is also worrying, but more worrying is the first bit.”

Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show airs weekdays at 6.30am on Virgin Radio.

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm.
