Windows 10 update: Microsoft could be readying these major upgrades for fans

Microsoft’s scheduled Surface event will take place in just over two weeks – it’s anticipated the firm will update most of its current lineup and may even have a few surprises in store, too.

A recent report from WinFuture has suggested the American firm’s Surface Laptop series is set for an update.

According to the German publication, a larger 15-inch model of the computer could make its debut, alongside an improved variant of the existing model, which has a smaller 13.5-inch screen.

As noted by The Verge, Microsoft is expected to launch an AMD-powered Surface Laptop 3 – and it’s possible the larger 15-inch device could be treated to such internals.

The Redmond-based company is also rumoured to be gearing up to release the Surface Pro 7 – in five different versions.

These will be:

• Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i3, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD

• Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD

• Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD

• Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD

• Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD

The configurations listed above are said to be for European territories – it is unknown if other regions will be offered different variants.

Unfortunately, WinFuture did not discuss any claimed pricing for either the Surface Pro 7 or the Surface Laptop 3 models.

But with these internals, it seems unlikely that either device will be sold for much less than their predecessors. For context, the Surface Pro 6 is priced from £879 and the Surface Laptop starts from £935.

In addition to those upgrades, The Verge has speculated Microsoft could finally lift the lid on its long rumoured dual-screen Surface tablet.

The Redmond-based firm has reportedly been working on a pliable Surface device for roughly two years.

Finally, it has also been speculated Microsoft’s entry-level Surface Go device could also be refreshed during the October 2 event.

The two-in-one detachable device launched back in August last year.
