Kym Marsh, 43, opened up about a “scary” case of identity theft involving her and ex-husband Jamie Lomas’ eight-year-old daughter Polly Lomas. The Coronation Street actress recently discovered the fake Instagram account online, which had used Polly’s name and image. Addressing the incident in her OK! magazine column, the soap star explained: “Last week we discovered that someone was pretending to be Polly online via a fake Instagram account. “They used ‘#rp’ to show it’s a role play account but that doesn’t make any difference.
“They’re still using my daughter’s name and my daughter’s image. It’s identity theft.”
Revealing her shock over the account, Kym added: “Why would anyone want to pretend to be an eight year old?
“It’s a dangerous game and it draws parallels with the stories we uncovered on my upcoming investigative BBC show For Love Or Money, which focuses on romance fraud.”
Kym went on to insist fake accounts should be made a “criminal offence” in response.
She continued: “This is what scares me about the internet – there’s no control over anything.
“It should be made a criminal offence to steal people’s identity to set up fake accounts, particularly when children are the victims.”
Elsewhere, Kym recalled a horror moment during a recent getaway trip with her beau Scott Ratcliff.
The small-screen star recently enjoyed a summer break to Pitlochry in Scotland to visit her boyfriend’s family.
Kym was joined on the week long holiday by her youngest daughter Polly and gushed the experience was a “slice of heaven”.
However, the mum-of-two revealed she got spooked when she and Scott took a six-mile run in Perthshire at a forest which she likened to The Blair Witch Project.
Kym commented: “During the six-mile run, it turned into thick forest – it was like something out of The Blair Witch Project and I got a bit spooked!
“I turned to Scott a bit scared and asked: ‘Are three bears around here?’”
She continued: “He laughed… luckily he was there to protect me!”
Kym has been dating her Army Major beau Scott since July last year.
She also revealed the couple got involved in hill running, bike rides and kettlebell sessions during their time away in Scotland, as Kym is currently training for a charity race.
The actress will be taking part in a ten-mile race for the Parachute Regimen.
