Man City legends 2-2 Premier League All-Star XI: Score draw in Vincent Kompany testimonial

Vincent Kompany’s testimonial was a thriller at the Etihad on Wednesday evening.

City went ahead in the second minute when Martin Petrov capitalised on a Gary Neville error.

The Premier League All-Star XI bounced back and took the lead with goals from Robbie Keane and Robin van Persie.

However, Benjami’s late equaliser saved City at the Etihad.

Kompany didn’t play in his own testimonial on Wednesday.

The Anderlecht player-manager is struggling with a hamstring injury and sat on the sidelines.

“Unfortunately I won’t be starting tonight or playing. It’s typical of me, right? I’m usually just there for the end of the season,” Kompany said before the clash.

“I’ve got a slight hamstring injury. I couldn’t risk it tonight.

“We’ve got plenty of awesome players to be watching today and in many ways it is about a celebration to say goodbye, it doesn’t need to be on the pitch as such.

“In the same way, we are doing it for an unbelievable cause. That takes priority.

“I’ll be there for David Silva and Kun Aguero’s testimonials.”
