Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Has Jamie Laing’s replacement been revealed in shock twist?

Strictly Come Dancing is currently short one celebrity after Jamie Laing had to pull out after injuring his foot.

The Made In Chelsea star announced the news today and it seems all eyes have shifted on to who will be his replacement.

So far, one name has stood out above the rest: Emily Atack.

The Queen of the Jungle looks set to switch I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! for a stint on Strictly Come Dancing, according to Betway.

The bookmakers have currently placed her with odds of 9/2 to replace Jamie.

However, there are plenty of other names floating around the internet, and it seems James Haskell is the favourite boy.

The former rugby player and current MMA hopeful is priced at 8/1.

Meanwhile, Jamie’s Made In Chelsea pal, Spencer Matthews, is also tipped for a waltz, as he holds odds of 10/1.

Other names that make up the list include Ian Wright, Gemma Collins and Nadiya Hussain.

Danny Dyer and Ulrika Johnson are also rumoured to be the stand-ins.

Betway’s Alan Alger told Express.co.uk: “Jamie Laing will be gutted that he can’t take part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, but as one door closes another one opens and producers may be looking to fill his space.

“Emily Atack was a big hit with the British public on last year’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and she’s quickly emerged as the favourite to get a late call-up for Strictly and replace Laing.

“Atack heads the betting on who’ll replace the Made In Chelsea star at 9/2, while ex-rugby turned cage fighter James Haskell could be up for another challenge and is 8/1.

“If producers are sniffing around for another star from west London, then Laing’s Chelsea chum Spencer Matthews could be the one and he is 10/1 to take part.”

According to the BBC, “further news will be announced in due course”.

News of Jamie’s departure broke earlier today, with the star saying in a statement: “I’m absolutely devastated that I’m unable to continue in the competition, I was so excited to hit the dance floor.

“I would like to wish the lovely couples all the very best and hope they enjoy their time on the show to the fullest.”

Strictly Come Dancing’s executive producer, Sarah James, commenting: “We are so sad that Jamie won’t be able to take part in the series, he had already lit up the ballroom during the launch show with his boundless energy and enthusiasm.

“We all wish him a full and speedy recovery.”

Strictly Come Dancing launches this Saturday on BBC One at 7.10pm.
