Stacey Dooley addresses polyamorous relationships amid Kevin Clifton romance ‘Amazing’

Stacey Dooley, 32, recently joined presenter Angela Scanlon, 35, on BBC Radio 2, where the pair chatted about the journalist’s new show titled Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over. The TV presenter delved into the lives of a three-person romance – which is commonly referred to as a “throuple” – and said she thought it seemed “brilliant”. Angela asked: “In my head, a throuple – this is my issue obviously – it would be kind of a weird thing. “It would just be a bit weird but they’re really quite a cool bunch.”

Stacey replied: “Do you know what, this is what I love about this episode in particular. I think it’s really unexpected.

“I think you have these preconceived ideas and probably negative connotations about what kind of people you’re going to meet.”

She continued: “I’ve watched loads of films on polyamorous relationships before and you’ve always felt sorry for one or two of them. You’ve always thought, I don’t know if your heart’s totally in it.

“But you go into this house and they’re all beautiful. They’re all young, they’re all articulate, they’re all bright.

“They’re all quite dignified and they very clearly explain why this works for them. And it was amazing. I really liked them and I thought they were brilliant.”

But the television presenter attempted to steer away from any notion that she would be interested in that form of a relationship.

Stacey added: “One’s enough for me.”

The documentary filmmaker confirmed her romance with Kevin, earlier this year.

Speaking about their relationship, she told The Guardian: “Kev and I have agreed not to go into too much detail about our private lives because you can’t really indulge that and then ask for privacy.

“That’s why we’ve turned down interviews that have offered us tens of thousands of pounds.”

She went on: “What I am happy to say is Kev’s amazing, I’m happy, life happens, I’ve got an amazing career and I’m very lucky.”

Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over will air tomorrow at 10pm on the W Channel.
