Stacey Dooley: ‘I'd be jealous’ Strictly star in 'terrible' Kevin Clifton bombshell live

Stacey Dooley, 32, swapped investigative journalism for the kitchen as she made a shocking admission following her time on the new W series of Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over. The programme follows the Strictly champion as she spends 72-hours in the company of a wide range of extraordinary characters and families, with the kinds of relationships we’ve never seen up close before. As she discussed the new series, Stacey admitted she’d be “jealous” of being in a polyamorous relationship. The documentary-filmmaker suggested she’d be “sliding up the walls” if she saw her boyfriend being affectionate towards another woman.

The Strictly winner who is in a relationship with professional dancer Kevin Clifton, 36, chatted to the Channel 4 hosts about the new show.

“There’s a polyamorous family,” she started, before Simon interrupted to ask: “What does that mean?”

“So more than two people in a loving relationship… you’re not sold, are you Tim?” Stacey laughed.

“Well, it’s not for me,” Tim quipped.

Speaking about the polyamorous family, Stacey divulged: “What really took me by surprise was when we were all on the sofa and the husband and wife – obviously married and they’ve got a little boy, and then the girlfriend comes in and out.

“I saw the husband [stroking the girlfriend’s arm] really lovingly and the wife was looking on like, ‘Oh I’m so made up they’ve got this connection’, and I just find that really hard to comprehend. I think I’d be jealous.”

Tim then quizzed the star on whether she could ever have a polyamorous relationship, as he asked: “Do you think you would do it?”

Stacey fumed: “Not in a million years. I’d be terrible. I’d be sliding off the walls.”

She added: “One’s enough for me.”

The Strictly Come Dancing champion recently confirmed she is dating Kevin after the pair won the BBC series.

Speaking about their relationship, she told The Guardian: “Kev and I have agreed not to go into too much detail about our private lives because you can’t really indulge that and then ask for privacy.

“That’s why we’ve turned down interviews that have offered us tens of thousands of pounds.”

She went on: “What I am happy to say is Kev’s amazing, I’m happy, life happens, I’ve got an amazing career and I’m very lucky.”

Elsewhere, the Strictly champion recently finished filming for the launch show of the BBC series as she took to the dance floor with her beau.

However, it has been reported Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood was forced to apologise for his remarks which he made towards the journalist.

According to The Sun, the judge told the latest contestants they could learn from reigning champion Stacey, but then is alleged to have quipped: “Of course, if you sleep with your dance partner that helps…”

It has been claimed BBC bosses halted filming following Craig’s remarks and he was told to apologise.

Craig has since issued a public apology, telling the publication: “I’m deeply sorry for the offence caused to Kevin and Stacey and everyone who works on the show.

“I recognise that what I said was hurtful, cruel and incredibly disrespectful. It was a huge error of judgement that I very much regret.”
